The BBC drama television series 'The Gold' (2023) follows the true story of the Brinks-Mat robbery and its aftermath. As the story involves many characters, the show required lots of sets. It was a location heavy show, and being part of the set-dec team, we were required to deliver a large amount of period-correct sets. We had to dress a lot of domestic settings, but also had large office/police office sets which were integral to the story.
'Barclays Bank'
'Tintagel - Main Office'
'Cooper's Penthouse'
The following are some of the sets we worked on - the set decorator (Janeeta Panesar) and I would draw up a dressing plan on the set plans (drawn by the art department) for the sets. This was so that we could see if the furniture hired/purchased would fit in the sets and for us to initially visualise how the sets would look. These sets were particularly fun to dress as the spaces underwent a dramatic transformation to look 70s/80s period.
